Q: What do I need before I purchase the MiFi 2372?
A: You must have a pre-paid or contract SIM/USIM card from one of the aforementioned operators with activated mobile internet service. You can also use an internet card from your smart phone, USB dongle or data card.
Q: How do I set up the MiFi 2371?
- If your carrier is not listed in the default options on the device, contact your SIM provider and ask for an APN#.
- Create a name (SSID) and password to enable access to your WiFi network.
- If using this device indefinitely, first configure it and then connect it to the AC electrical charger.
Q: Which Web UI network technology is programmable with my MiFi?
A: Firmware 5.15 network technology is only programmable in Mobilink2 software. Upgrade to the 5.21 version or later to change the software.
Q: What’s the difference between the MiFi 2372 and the MiFi 2352?
A: These mobile devices support different 3G frequencies. The MiFi 2372 supports the 850.1900/2100 frequency found generally in the Americas. The MiFi 2352 supports the 900/1900/2100 frequency generally found in Europe.
Q: Are there potential security threats with the MiFi?
A: Data sent/receieved through the device is secure. A hacker can only obtain the location of the device if an user visits a malicious website long enough for the GPS to be activated. This will last only for the length of time the user stays on the malicious site, however the hacker would not be able to obtain data from any devices connected to the MiFi.
Q: How can I prevent potential security threats?
A: Take safety precautions when using the internet. Update your anti-virus and browser software, mae sure browser anti-phishing filters are on, and only click on sites you know and trust. It is also recommended that you log off your Mifi device when you are done using it.
