At the recent 2011 International Consumer Electronics Show(CES), held in Las Vegas from January 6-9, Verizon and Novatel showcased the first-ever 4G LTE MiFi device. The new Novatel MiFi 4510L Intelligent Mobile Hotspot allows users to take full advantage of Verizon’s high-speed 4G LTE Mobile Broadband network. This will be especially useful for business professionals who need internet access while in transit or at onsite meetings, and consumers who want 4G service while on vacation.

The 4510L’s one-touch activation is extremely simple to operate and the device fits in the palm of your hand for optimal portability. It has download speeds of up to 5 to 12 mbp’s and upload speeds of 2 to 5 mbp’s. Operating, it creates a mobile hotspot as far away as 30 feet, and it can support 4G service for up to five different Wi-Fi-enabled devices. The 4510L MiFi is also compatible with Verizon’s 3G networks, for those areas of the US that are not yet covered by LTE 4G network. Some of the Novatel 4510L’s new features include integrated status displays that indicate battery life and connectivity information.

Both Novatel and Verizon are quite enthusiastic over the 4510L’s upcoming release. Peter Leparulo, chairman and chief executive officer of Novatel Wireless, said, “We’re very excited to be launching the first 4G LTE MiFi device with Verizon Wireless.”  According to Marni Walden, vice president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless ,”Whether customers are experiencing 4G speeds on their Wi-Fi-capable netbooks, notebooks, tablets or smartphones, they can count on the reliability of both the MiFi 4510L and the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network.”

No word yet on the expected release date of the MiFi 4910L, but they can be pre-ordered online  here.

The verdict is in, out of all of the mobile hotspots around, Novatel MiFi is the most sizzling. Even with the smoke and mirrors surrounding Verizon’s MiFi  “Fivespot”  release in the last few months, Novatel’s device continues to reign supreme over the rest due to it’s flexibility.

The Novatel MiFi has two versions, the 2352 and the 2372. The former works in Europe, the latter in North America. These mobile hotspots create a personal WiFi bubble that can allow as many as five devices access to its ready-to-go internet connection. They can connect to cameras, MP3 players, laptops, etc. The MiFi is small enough to fit into your palm which allows for comfortable portability– ideal for anyone traveling.

It’s said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery and though many manufacturers have sought to imitate this technological wonder, they’ve yet to duplicate it’s success or create a suitable rival. Error: Connection Failed. These three words are the most dreaded message an internet user can see. All of that has changed recently with a device called MiFi 2372 from Novatel Wireless. Novatel Wireless now ships their MiFi 2372 with a new battery and battery door. This is because of a series of incidents involving the battery being punctured. As a result, the battery combusted due to excessive force from a sharp object.

There hasn’t been a recall on all of the MiFi 2372s. Novatel Wireless has recalled and deactivated the MiFi 2372 for Bell Mobility and Virgin Mobile Canada. The company will exchange the battery and battery door of your MiFi 2372. The MiFi 2372 is the only unit being recalled for Bell Mobility and Virgin Mobile Canada. The MiFi 2200 and MiFi 2352 are not being recalled. Novatel Wireless redesigned the battery door to prevent further incidents like the two that occured in Canada.

The MiFi battery door snaps open and closed. No tools are necessary or required to remove or install the battery or battery door. If you need to use excessive force to remove battery, please return the MiFi to your carrier or where you purchased your MiFi.

Battery door/battery removal:

• Place the MiFi so that the battery door is exposed
• Hold the device in both hands. The label end must be near the palms of your hands
• Place your thumbs on the traction bars near the corners of the MiFi battery door
• Using normal thumb pressure on the traction bars, slide the battery door away from you
• The door should move approximately a quarter of an inch and then stop moving
• Pick up the edge of the battery door that moves under your fingers to move the battery door
• Slightly pull the battery up so it moves over the edge of the MiFi
• Remove the battery from the battery well

DO NOT use knives, sharp objects, tools, keys, pens or any obsessive force to remove the battery. Using these objects could result in a punctured MiFi battery. Puncturing the battery may cause the device to combust.

Inter Communications will launch the MiFi 2372 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot from Novatel Wireless. It’s an impressive device that provides a cloud of internet coverage using a 3G connection with a SIM card from Inter Communications.

The MiFi 2372 provides users with download speeds of up to 7.2 megabits per second. The device includes a microSD slot for expandable memory of up to 16 gigabytes. The device won the “Best of Innovations” award in the “Enabling Technologies” category at the CES 2010 in Las Vegas earlier this year.
