The Novatel MiFi 2372: Create Your Own Hotspot On the Go

by Ellen Garboos on September 14, 2010

My fellow Americans, in this day and age of being constantly on the go, our collective attention spans have dwindled down to that of a fly’s. The source of our inability to focus? That would be our friend, the Internet. But who wants to limit an addiction that is, frankly speaking, so useful and fun that we’re bored every time we can’t indulge in it? I’ll tell you who doesn’t want to limit it– the makers of the MiFi 2372.

This wonderful gadget – manufactured by Rogers (serviced by Novatel)–  serves as a virtual IV for that unquenchable net thirst. It creates a mobile 3G wireless hotspot able to accommodate up to 5 WiFi enabled devices, wherever you may wander to; and at 18 grams, it won’t weigh you down on your way there.

The MiFi 2372 also comes equipped with a MicroSD card slot, capable of saving or transferring up to 16 GB of data via Nova Speed– Novatel’s built-in speed and performance enhancing software. In addition to the MicroSD card slot, the 2732 sports a port for mini USB (used for tethering). The battery life is no slouch either, lasting up to four hours when fully-charged.

With the use of any wireless device, usually comes the added concern of security and the MiFi  is no different. It addresses this valid worry with password encryption (the password is written on the back of the battery) that ensures only those with permission can gain access.

Are you rushing to a midtown meeting, but not sure where you are or how to get there? The MiFi  2372 comes with GPS-based applications for Windows users.
And ease of use? Not an issue. Simply touch the power button and you’re good to go.

Done processing all of that info? Good. Hopefully you can rest easy now, knowing that you’ll never be caught without a net connection again.
